In this workshop participants will get a hands-on introduction to assessment of studio work based on the prototype of the Common European Framework of Reference for Visual Literacy, as developed by the research project of ENViL. The first part introduces the use of (visual) rubrics as a more comprehensive way to assess studio work. The second part of the workshop concentrates on the way teacher trainers can prepare future teachers in art in the use of (competency-based) rubrics as part of electronic portfolio assessment. Possibilities, limitations and opportunities for future use of rubrics in both teacher training and in schools will be discussed.
