To introduce the visual literacy competences as developed in this Comenius project in the EU Member States, it is first of all necessary to support teachers who are currently active in schools. This calls for the development, design, implementation and dissemination of CEFR-VL-based curricula, teaching methods and training courses for active and future teachers. However, it is equally important to include these elements in the teacher training curricula, a topic that I will address in this article. The teacher should at least possess competences (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) of a similar nature to those that students are expected to acquire during their school career.
